Keluarga Cemara (1996)

Keluarga Cemara (1996) is an 1996 Indonesian TV drama series. It was aired in 1996 on RCTI and ended in 2005 on TV7 (now Trans7). Keluarga Cemara showcases Indonesian family values such as togetherness, sincerity and simplicity. It is based on books written by writer Arswendo Atmowiloto, who was also the series' producer, production designer and scriptwriter. "Keluarga Cemara" was released in three seasons and received many awards including two Panasonic awards and the Praiseworthy Sinetron award from Bandung Film Festival.

The story starts with Abah (Adi Kurdi) who was an entrepreneur going bankrupt and soon finding himself working as a becak (three-wheeled pedicab) driver after moving the entire family from Jakarta to the countryside. His wife Emak (Novia Kolopaking and later Anneke Puteri) found work as an Sundanese corn-flour(opak) chips maker and seller. Abah was portrayed as a hard-working and patient father and Emak was described as a loyal wife. They have three daughters: Euis (Ceria Hade), Ara (Anisa Fujianti) and Agil (Pudji Lestari), who all helped Emak selling opak.
