Japanese drama series are broadcast according to the four different three-months seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. One characteristic of Japanese drama that differentiates it from others is that each episode is usually shot only a few (two to three) weeks before it is aired.

Popular Indonesian dramas are also known as Sinetrons. Sinetron is a mix of class struggles, Islamic teachings and deus ex machina resolutions, infused with a distinct flavour of the archipelago.
